A Cozy Couples’ Getaway at Graystone Lodge in Boone, NC

There’s nothing quite like cozying up by the glow of a fire pit with your favorite person after a day exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains. That’s exactly how we spent one of our evenings at Graystone Lodge in Boone, NC—a warm and welcoming retreat that combines lodge-style charm with modern comforts. From the moment we checked into this romantic Boone hotel, we knew this was the perfect spot for a couple’s getaway.

With its upscale modern feel, thoughtful amenities, and emphasis on local partnerships, Graystone is the perfect home base for couples (or families) looking for a High Country getaway. It’s easy to see why they’ve been voted Best of the Best Hotel in Watauga County for two years running and earned the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award — placing them in the top 10% of hotels worldwide.

Smooth Check-In & Warm Welcome

Our getaway started with a quick and easy check-in process, which set the tone for a stress-free stay. The staff greeted us with genuine warmth, and the little details immediately made an impression — such as fresh-baked cookies upon check-in, as well as coffee and tea available in the lobby, a thoughtful touch indeed.

A Room Made for Relaxation

Our spacious room felt like a retreat of its own:

  • Plush, cozy bed for unwinding after a day exploring the mountains (the headboard was such a neat accent piece)

  • Luxurious shower with great water pressure, quality shampoo + conditioner (my hair has never felt so soft!)

  • Plenty of outlets — perfect for recharging both phones and ourselves

  • In-room coffee + tea to keep cozy mornings slow and sweet

It was quiet and comfortable — exactly what we needed for a restful getaway.

Local Flavor at Breakfast

Mornings at Graystone Lodge felt extra special thanks to their complimentary hot breakfast. It’s not your typical hotel spread—here, they partner with local favorites to give guests a true taste of Boone. We loved starting the day with fresh bagels and breads from Stick Boy Bread Co., paired with locally roasted Hatchet Coffee. Those little touches made breakfast feel both hearty and uniquely High Country, setting the tone for a day of exploring the mountains.

It’s that kind of local connection that sets Graystone apart and makes your stay feel rooted in the community.

Evenings by the Firepit

One of our favorite memories from the trip was spending time at the outdoor fire pit. The crisp mountain air made it the perfect spot to cozy up together, and the warm glow created such a relaxing atmosphere. We even struck up a conversation with new friends visiting from Atlanta who had the cutest pup named Springsteen—proof that Graystone’s shared spaces spark the kind of moments you can’t plan but will always remember. And if you’re traveling with your pup, you’ll love that Graystone is dog-friendly so that they can curl up by the fire pit with you.
